Foam rollers and massage balls are mostly intended for the outside surface of large muscles. They cannot penetrate deeper into the body to affect hard-to-reach muscles or penetrate deeper on a surface muscle, like a massage therapist does.

Foam rollers and massage balls can be effective with some muscle groups however the Thrival system is designed to be better at muscle release and relief for virtually all muscle groups.

While holding the board down with one hand, grip the top of the head with your other hand and pull straight up to release – you might have to wiggle it a little bit. Reposition the head in a different slot and then push it down until fully seated.

• Technique A: Hold the board vertically (the longer side vertically) and then place both your thumbs on the upper half while using the heel of your hand and other 4 fingers to grip the bottom half. Using your thumbs, work the board back and forth until it releases.
• Technique B: Hold the board horizontally with one hand on each board. Pretend you are tearing a piece of paper, rotate 180 degrees, do this repeatedly and eventually it will release.

Yes. Thrival products are proudly designed in the U.S. and manufactured in Piqua, Ohio. Manufacturing in the U.S. costs more, but it guarantees the quality, consistency, and reliability our customers expect.

Thrival’s products are made from ABS or Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene. The covers for the attachment heads are made from TPU or a thermoplastic elastomer.

Most people attempting to release a tight muscle experience some discomfort. For some people, it may be a little more than can be tolerated. In that instance, you can do one of two things:

• Purchase and use our elastomer covers for the Wave, Ballhead, and Bullseye heads. These covers create more surface area and are softer.
• Alternatively, you can also place a folded hand towel over the heads to soften initial pressure as you get used to deeper work.

Typically, yes. If you have muscle groups that are tight then your range of motion is less than optimal. By releasing tight muscles, your range of motion should improve.

Your psoas muscles are rope-shaped muscles that run between your femur bones in your legs to your spine in your torso and are the predominant muscles involved in lifting your legs. They do a lot of heavy lifting as each leg is typically 16-19% of your total body weight.

The heavy lifting required means that most people’s psoas muscles are very powerful and because they are anchored between the femur and your spine in the lower lumbar region, this continual tugging on the spine can lead to lower back pain and persistent lower back problems. Many people relieve lower back pain with pain relief drugs. Drugs often are the quick and very temporary fix for a more systemic issue that can be resolved through exercise and loosening tight muscles with the Thrival system.
