When the world came to a standstill in March 2020 due to the Covid pandemic, my best friend and I (both competitive ski racers) decided to use our newfound time to solve a problem we were having with our training. Our intense ski race training frequently resulted in chronic hip flexor and back problems, which not only reduced the enjoyment of skiing but also negatively impacted our performance.
We were already familiar with the existing recovery tools and knew they lacked the versatility needed to meet our needs.
Additionally, the cost of frequent appointments with massage therapists or chiropractors, combined with continual travel, made regular treatments impractical. We recognized the need for an affordable and versatile solution for deep tissue recovery wherever we were.
Starting in our garage in Steamboat, Colorado, we used CAD software and 3D printers to repeatedly iterate and test our design over several months. Our goal was to create a product that was not only extremely effective but also accessible to anyone. We quickly recognized that a one-size-fits-all tool wasn’t going to be very effective for most body types and for most major muscle groups.
Realizing that versatility was extremely important, we came up with a solution that had multiple attachment heads and adjustable spacing. This innovation differentiated us from the existing tools and ensured a customized recovery experience for every major muscle group and body type. With this breakthrough, Thrival Muscle Recovery began selling its products in November 2020.

Cam Smith is a former Division 1 ski racer at Boston College, where he graduated with a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Marketing. Originally from Mill Valley, CA, Cam attended Burke Mountain Academy for high school and spent two gap years in Steamboat Springs, CO, pursuing ski racing.
Now based in Charleston, SC, he’s traded ski slopes for the ocean, but still loves getting back on snow whenever he can. Outside of work, Cam enjoys surfing, skiing, painting, and sharing beers with friends; keeping his love for adventure and creativity alive both in the mountains and by the sea.
Dominic is a co-founder of Thrival Muscle Recovery. Originally from Montréal, he competed as a D1 alpine ski racer at the University of New Hampshire, where he earned a BS in finance and accounting. Prior to college, Dominic attended Burke Mountain Academy in VT for high school and also spent a gap year in Steamboat Springs, CO, pursuing ski racing. Dominic now works in M&A at KPMG in Montréal.
Bill is an inventor and small business entrepreneur who has (co-)founded several companies. Bill has attended more than 300 patent trials over the last 30 years for his first company, ACT. Bill grew up in Vienna, VA and received a EE degree from Clarkson University in 1987. Bill currently lives in Somers, Montana after stints in Steamboat, CO, East Burke, VT , Marin County, CA and Donner Summit, CA. In his spare time, he can typically be found trail running in the mountains, skiing the backcountry or hiking in the wilderness.

Warranty
Thrival commits to a lifetime warranty for all its current products. Thrival products are primarily made with ABS plastic which is very durable, strong and long-lasting. The likelihood of a Thrival product breaking is very low. If one should break, please take pictures and email them along with your contact information to customer.service@Thrival.com.
Made in the USA
Since 2023, Thrival products have been 100% Made in the USA. When we initially started shipping some of our products in early 2021, our initial batch of products were injection molded in Taiwan or China but assembled in the USA. By 2023, all our products were manufactured and assembled in the USA. Our products have always been designed in the USA.
